How to replace turn signal bulb for BMW 5 Series (E39)

Model years: 1995 - 2004
Car turn signals or directionals are twinkling lamps, positioned at all four body corners. Driver decides when to turn on these lights in order to inform other road users, that the vehicle is going to alter movement direction or speed. It's significant to switch turn signals on each time required by road traffic regulation, thus alerting others about planned actions on a driven vehicle. Consequently, all turn indicator bulbs should perform well. Most frequently, the explanation for an inoperative turn indicator is a failed bulb, that can easily be discovered while driving: whenever turn signal is switched on, the flashing rate of a relative indicator in the dashboard will be increased, although sole bulb has failed.

The life-time of a bulb is limited. Sooner or later, it will burn out and will have to be replaced. Bulbs, made of high quality materials, tend to last longer. It's recommended to use well known brand replacement bulbs.

If bulb burns out right after installation, your vehicle might have a problem inside electrical system - have it checked by auto electrician.
