Tail lights (rear position lamps) are a part of rear light cluster of the car, which prime goal is to alert others about your presence on the road. Aforementioned lamps emit red ray of light in the same way as brake lamps, though the latter entails much brighter light. On the whole tail lamps will continue emitting light as long as front low beam lamps lights are turned on.
