How to replace headlight bulb for Audi A4 (B6)

To ensure the safety of our own and others it's very important to observe the condition of headlights. Normally the fault of the headlight is a consequence of obsolete bulb, what will result in reduced road visibility at night. In parallel your vehicle might become more difficult to notice in respect of other road users. Whenever noticed, that the headlight has gone out, be responsible and replace the bulb. The life-time of a bulb is limited. Sooner or later, it will burn out and will have to be replaced. Bulbs, made of high quality materials, tend to last longer. It's recommended to use well known brand replacement bulbs.
If bulb burns out right after installation, your vehicle might have a problem inside electrical system - have it checked by auto electrician.
Tip: Never touch glass housing of a halogen bulb with your fingers. Greasy spots might cause premature failure of the bulb. Handle the bulb by its base or use a piece of clean paper when installing.

How to replace headlight bulb:

To access headlight bulbs, headlight cluster has to be removed. First step, lift the hood:

Loosen bolts "1" and "2":

To remove the headlight, unplug the wiring (3):

To replace low beam bulb, remove the cover.

Unplug wiring (1). Unlock metal retention clip (2), which holds the bulb in it's place:

To replace high beam bulb, remove the cover "1" by releasing metal retention clip "2" with the help of screwdriver:
